John Christian Gugel, official electrician of the Dayton police department, was born at Mt. Healthy, a suburb of Cincinnati, on February 25, 1872. He received a high school and business college education and traveled widely before settling down in Dayton. he spent two years in the Hawaiian islands as a member of the National Guards of Hawaii. He also had charge of telephone work at Honolulu and western cities of the United States, as well as Dayton. He was also a mail clerk at the N.C.R. for a time. Mr. Gugel is a 32 degree Mason and a Knight Templar and a Shriner. He is married. He has been holding his present position since July 1, 1899.
