Perry A. Heywood was born at Eaton, Ohio, the county seat of Preble County, on May 19, 1871. He attended the schools of that city, and, after growing to manhood, began to make his own living as a railroader. He finally tired of the hazardous life of a railroader, but he was so attached to cards that he secured work in the car shops at Dayton, and finally became a car builder. He was so engaged when appointed patrolman, October 21, 1902. Mr. Heywood was detailed to patrol wagon duty in August, 1909. He is a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M. He and his wife, Mary, are the parents of seven children, Harry, Aubrey, Edith, Fern, Geneva, Perry and Teddy.
