George L. Altherr, who has been doing duty on one of the city ambulance wagons since his appointment, on February 1, 1907, is a native of Dayton, and is widely and favorably known. He was born on September 23, 1871. After leaving the public schools he followed various forms of employment until appointed sanitary policeman. He left his position to accept the ambulance job. Mr. Altherr is just the sort of man needed on an ambulance, and he is giving the best satisfaction. He is a member of the independent Order of Foresters. Mr. Altherr's family consists of his wife, Emma, and three children, Helen, Ruth and Margaret.
