Alvaro D. Conklin began his life on a farm near Lumberton, Clinton County, Ohio, where he was born April 3, 1872. He attended school in Lumberton and remained on the farm with his parents until he had grown to be a young man, when he felt a desire to become a salesman. He did so, and filled a number of positions successfully in his home county and later in Dayton. On November 17, 1906, he was appointed on the police force. He is married, his wife's name being Mary, and belongs to the I. O. O. F. and K. O P. lodges. He is a popular and efficient officer.
