James Conway is a native of Ireland, having been born in that country on December 12, 1871. He received his education in the public schools of his native country, and emigrated to the United States when a young man to seek his fortune. Soon after his arrival he engaged in railroad work, which led him to take up his residence in Dayton. He was engaged in this occupation when appointed patrolman on the police force, January 12, 1907. Mr. Conway is no exception to the rule that Irishmen always make good policemen. He is identified with the order of Eagles, and is still on the matrimonial market.
