John Clarence Dunlevy, of Irish-American parentage, was born in the city of Dayton on August 6, 1875. He attended the public schools, and, after growing up, obtained work as a railroader. After following this work for a number of years he wished for a change of occupation and succeeded in securing an appointment as patrolman of the police force, October 22, 1903. Officer Dunlevy is probably one of the best known men on the force. He is a congenial fellow and a capable officer. Mr. Dunlevy and his wife, Gertrude, are the parents of two children, Gerald and Phyllis Lenore. He belongs to the Order of Owls.
