Carl Whitten Fox was born in a little settlement in Warren County, Ohio known as Level, on August 26, 1880. After completing the course offered in the public schools he attended the Normal University at Lebanon and prepared himself for teaching. He spent several years in the school-room, but finally tired of the grind that a pedagogue must endure. Soon after leaving the school-room he came to Dayton, and was successful in securing an appointment as patrolman on the police force. He was appointed June 11, 1909. Mr. Fox is affiliated with the I. O. O. F. lodge. He has a wife, Mae, and one son, Robert.
