Charles Hannabery, who was born at Selina, Clark County, Ohio, June 27, 1883, is one of the youngest and newest members of the police force. He is of Irish descent. He received his education in the public schools of Cedarville, Ohio, and spent his boyhood days in that village. Later he came to Dayton, where he was engaged as a street car conductor until August 5, 1909, when he was appointed patrolman. Before he had served a month on the force he was shot in the knee by an infuriated negress and disabled for several months. He is married and a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge. His wife's name is Jennie.
