Frank J. Heywood was born at Eaton, the county seat of Preble County, Ohio, on April 12, 1876. After completing his education in the public schools of that city he secured employment with the Miami Valley Leaf Tobacco Company, of Dayton, and took up his residence in the Gem City. He was a member of Company G, Twentieth United States Infantry, from December 2, 1895 to December 1, 1898, and served in the Spanish-American war. Mr. Heywood was appointed to the police force January 13, 1907. He is single and is affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America.
