Cary Frank Hoffman was born at Harrisburg, Montgomery County, Ohio, March 25, 1876. After leaving the public school of that village he became an apprentice to a carpenter, and succeeded in learning the trade. Later he specialized on bridge carpentering. His desire to live in a larger city later led him to give up his trade and remove to Dayton, where he accepted employment as a street car conductor. He was so engaged when appointed patrolman, September 13, 1906. He has a wife, Eva, and one son, Robert. Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M.
