Howard Hunter was born on a farm in Montgomery County, Ohio, on March 18, 1879. He attended the district school and grew to manhood on the farm. For several years he stayed with his parents accepting farming for his occupation. Desiring a change he secured employment in Dayton, and later succeeded in getting a position as street car conductor. Seeing opportunities for making more money he entered the feed merchant business, and was engaged in this line when appointed patrolman, December 24, 1909. Mr. Hunter and his wife, Ida, are the parents of two beautiful daughters, Ester May and Dorothy Louise.
