Louis Joseph Janning was born in Dayton, Ohio, on March 14, 1876. He secured his early training and education in a parochial school. Mr. Janning followed his trade as cabinet maker for several years and became so popular among his fellow workmen that he was elected financial secretary of the Woodworker's Union No. 36. He was appointed patrolman on the police force on August 6, 1904. Mr. Janning is a member of the C. K. of O. He and his wife, Kathryn, are the parents of two daughters, Kathryn and Margaret, and three sons, Richard, Robert and Eugene.
