C. A. Long, who has been doing patrolman's duty on the police force since June 3, 1907, is a native of Champaign County, Ohio. He was born at Urbana, on April 11, 1883. He was one of the foremost pupils in the public school, and his learning qualified him to take up clerical work as soon as he had graduated. After filling a position capably in his home city he accepted a position as railway clerk in Dayton, which he held until appointed patrolman on the police force, January 3, 1907. Mr. Long is unmarried. He is one of the youngest men in years in the department, but he is "making good."
