John Franklin Mikesell, who has been wearing the patrolman's uniform since November 22, 1892, was born in the little village of West Carlisle, Ohio, on September 2, 1856. He was educated in the common school of that village, and, after leaving school, entered the village blacksmith shop to learn the trade. When he had become a full-fledged smithy he removed to Dayton and followed his trade. He was so engaged when appointed to the force. His conduct and work have been most satisfactory during his connection with the department. Mr. Mikesell is a member of the Modern Woodmen. He is single.
