Thomas Mitchell, who was born of Irish parentage at Philadelphia, October 28, 1855, ranks fifth in point of service among the Dayton patrolmen, having been appointed June 17, 1891. He attended the public schools in Philadelphia and removed to Dayton while yet a young man. He is a most congenial fellow and his face has long been familiar on the uptown streets. He is married, his wife's name being Irene, and they have two sons, Thomas and Lester. He is an Odd Fellow and a member of the Police Benevolent Association. Mr. Mitchell is probably one of the tallest men on the force.
