David O'Hearn, who is the second oldest man in point of service among the patrolmen of the Dayton police force, was born on a farm in Van Buren Township, Montgomery County, Ohio on Washington's birthday of 1859. After receiving his education in the township schools he took up farming for an occupation and followed it for several years. Tiring of the farm life he removed to Dayton and engaged himself as a teamster. He was following this business when appointed to the police force on November 17, 1886. Mr. O'Hearn is the head of an interesting family, consisting of his wife, Mary, two sons, and five daughters.
