Valentine J. Porter, one of the very newest members of the police force, having been appointed only March 28, 1910, is a native of the Blue Grass State, Kentucky. He was born at Bowling Green on November 30, 1882. In his infancy his parents took him to Arizona, where he obtained a common school education. When he grew to manhood he came back East and settled in Dayton, where he followed various forms of employment until appointed patrolman. Mr. Porter is married, his wife's name being Helen. Though Mr. Porter is new in the business his friends say he has the qualities of a good officer."
