Clarence David Potter is a native of Preble County, Ohio, having been born on a farm near the village of West Alexandria, on December 10, 1874. He received his education in the West Alexandria schools, and after reaching manhood took up his residence there. He was elected marshal of that village and successfully filled two terms. He made such a capable officer that he had no trouble in securing an appointment to the Dayton police force on May 20, 1906. Mr. Potter is married, his family consisting of his wife, Rosie, and a son Randal. He is a member of the K. of P. lodge and Modern Woodmen.
