John Rose was born on September 24, 1868, in the city of Dayton, Ohio, where he was educated and grew to manhood. He attended a parochial school, and on reaching his majority decided to become a miller. He liked this work and followed it until the opportunity to wear a patrolman's uniform presented itself. He secured his appointment to the police force on December 8, 1904, and is proving a faithful and capable officer. Mr. Rose is affiliated with the Knights of St. John, and is popular in a large circle of acquaintances. He and his wife, Mary, are the proud parents of three children, Lawrence, Agnes and Clara.
