Charles Thurman, who became a member of the police force on January 26, 910, was born on a farm in Van Buren Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, April 8, 1881. After attending the township school and gaining what knowledge he could, he left the farm and moved into Dayton. He filled a number of responsible positions and finally engaged as a driver. He was thus engaged when his appointment came. He and his wife, Mary, are the proud parents of three healthy sons, Robert, Lester and Russell. Mr. Thurman is an active member of Lodge No. 321, of the Order of Eagles.
