George P. Tilton was born at the settlement of Okeana, Butler County, Ohio, on February 24, 1870. He began his education in the schools of New London, Ohio, and completed it after his parents had moved to Dayton. After growing up he became a granite cutter and followed this occupation until appointed patrolman on September 25, 1894. Mr. Tilton was a member of Company G, Third Regiment, O. N. G., from July 31, 1888, to July 31, 1891. He is a member of Court Miami Valley, No. 1640, Independent Order of Foresters. He has a wife Irene, and two children, Martha and Russell.
